The Coming Year

Colossians 3:2 “Set your affection on things above,
not on things on the earth.” (KJV


Just what will be your purpose in this brand new coming year?
Do you have a certain goal that God has made real clear?
Do you have a program that will help you gain that goal?
Does it include reaching a sinner's hell-bound soul?

What greater purpose is there or ever more could be,
Than to show a sinner salvation's guarantee?
It's better far than fame or to win the lottery.
It matters most of all in God's eternity.

Whose team will you be on when all is said and done?
Today's god of this world, or Christ's, God's only Son?
Two team are all there are. The last inning maybe soon.
In fact, God makes it clear, it may come before noon.

Without the proper purpose you might help the other side.
Even as a Christian, if God's Word is not your guide.
Even though one's born again their path may not be straight.
The Christ who saved their soul, they do not emulate.

So choose your purpose wisely to glorify the Lord.
Your efforts won't be wasted, and you'll receive a just reward.
No purpose could be greater than to show forth God's great love.
So, set your affection only on things that are above.
