A Special Birthday

John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (KJV)

This week's a special birthday, I'm turning sixty-seven.
The reason why it's special; I'm one year nearer heaven.
To me, birthdays are special. It belongs to only me.
I know that others share it but they're not here you see.

I claim a second birth date but the date cannot be found.
I was only six years old but I know God wrote it down.
Though the date is missing, it's still the best of all.
For I can still remember when I heard the Savior's call.

Have you a special birthday when you were born again?
When by the mighty grace of God He cleansed your heart of sin.
If not, each day that passes bring you one day nearer God.
That day you'll stand before Him, not His child but a fraud.

God's grace will be exhausted no mercy will be found.
You'll hear God say, “Depart from Me, your name's not written down.”
You need a special birthday, not from your mother's womb.
By faith alone in Jesus, that He rose up from the tomb.

Today's a day of mercy, if you will heed God's call.
Christ bled and died to save us, to cleanse us one and all.
Salvation is the gift of God by grace to you and me.
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works,
lest any man should boast.” (KJV)
