A Second Chance

Jonah 3:1-2 “And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah
the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh...” (KJV)

Don't you wish that God would give a second chance,
When it comes to servants, His kingdom to advance?
Let me share this secret, this subject is not rare.
The Bible is chucked full of the Father's tender care.

Recall the loving shepherd who sought for his lost sheep?
He did not just forget it and then went sound asleep.
He went out in the wilderness, which pictures man in sin.
He searched until he found it and carried it home again.

Try Jonah, Moses, David, just to name a few.
Do not forget St. Peter, include him in there too.
The list goes on and on a Biblical who's who.
It also includes each of us that God can make brand new.

So if you've been a Jonah and ran off the wrong way,
Get down on your knees and here is what you pray.
“Father, please forgive me for a rebel's sinful heart,
Thank you for forgiveness and give me a new start.”

He promises to forgive us and cleanse our heart of sin.*
He'll put you on the right path so you can start again.
If it wasn't that our God would give a second chance,
He'd soon run out of people, without this circumstance.

* I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (KJV)
